The roots of the Kitchen band can be traced back to about 26 years ago when Ian and Tom were playing as a duo in a pub in Paisley. They were later joined  by Ron Gardner, then Mike Garner
For about 10 years this was the basic line up of the band. Ron Gardner then took the road south. Then after a brief interval as playing as a trio, Tony was pressed ganged, about twelve years ago and is still in service.(notice I didn't say active) Mike Garner left for pastures new, about four years ago, again after playing as a trio for about a year, his placed was  filled by Ray - who played with the band untill the summer of 2004.

The name (Kitchen Band)- yes they did practice in Ian's kitchen and did consider all the variations of a folksy sounding name. But after a long debate it was decided to leave out 'sink and ashtray' and call our self
The Kitchen Band.
Original eh'.

The band members  live in the West Central Belt of Scotland, (two of) in Barrhead, one in East Kilbride.

The band over the years have played to wide and varied audiences, aye and sometimes in wild and varied places.

Our choice of material is varied, this is basically because we play  anything that takes our fancy, we don't worry to much about what is folk, we let others do that, we might be a bit old fashioned but we really want people to join in and sing along with us. Now 'that's folk music.'
